Coronavirus Update 04/07/2020
NOTE: Our offices will be closed from Noon on Wednesday, April 8th through Sunday, April 12th for Passover and Easter Week. Only the doctor on call will be available for those days.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Gastroenterology Associates of Cleveland is closed for in-office visits and endoscopy procedures. Patients will be contacted to reschedule office visits and procedures once we have been cleared to reopen. We are however, providing Virtual visits with one of our physicians for urgent gastrointestinal issues. We are providing these via WhatsApp or Facetime. We cannot schedule NEW APPOINTMWENT visits virtually at this time but will take your information and once we can reopen, you will be called to schedule.
Our phones will be answered daily between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 noon Monday through Friday.
Telehealth (Virtual) Visits
Our physicians will see patients by a “Telehealth Visit.” We are converting physical office appointments to Virtual Telehealth Visits on a case by case basis. If you call to speak with a “provider” regarding an issue, our scheduler will ask you several questions to determine the type of visit that is required. If you have an iPhone, we will use FaceTime. We can also use WhatsApp for a Virtual Telehealth Visit with an Android phone. All these applications have been approved at this time for Virtual Telehealth by Medicare.
- You will be given a specific appointment time. You will be asked for your cell phone number. The doctor will then call you at the scheduled appointment time. If you do not answer after 3 rings he will hang up, wait 5 minutes and try one (1) more time. The visit can last anywhere from 20 – 45 minutes.
We are making every attempt to fill all prescriptions in a timely manner. It is preferable that you have your pharmacy request the refill electronically. Faxed or telephone requests will take much longer since we are working remotely.
At the present time, we do not have the staff to fulfill prior authorization requests. We suggest you contact your pharmacy benefit provider and ask for a 60-day waiver for your medication due to COVID-19.
Colonoscopy and Upper Endoscopy Procedures and Recalls
Due to the closure of all ambulatory surgery centers by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and Governor DeWine. All outpatient endoscopy procedures are cancelled. We will begin to reschedule these procedures once we obtain approval from ODH and the Governor.
We no longer have any drug samples.
My Chart Messages
Drs Lissauer and Frankel do not use MyChart Messaging.
Doctor On Call
We always have a physician on call after 12 noon daily. The doctor on call cannot fill prescriptions, make or cancel office visits, they can however schedule their own Virtual Visit.
